Farfuguim japonicum 'Gigantea' (formally Ligularia
tussilaginea) Evergreen perennial growing 12-14 inch,
lotus-like leaves and showy yellow,daisy-like, flowers in the
fall. Grows well in shade or dappled light, but dislikes direct
sun. Great for moist areas and containers. 3' tall by 4'
wide. Zones 7-9.

Farfugium japonicum 'Cristata' Perennial. Green-gray
undulating leaves. Yellow flower clusters above foliage in fall.
Prefers full or partial shade and requires a moist soil.. Forms
a dense clump with upright arching foliage growing to 2 feet
tall. Use beside pools or bogs. Also makes an excellent plant
to use as a mass in front of a tall bed or in the back of a
small bed. Looks good in a large container. Zone 7-9

Ipomoea indica 'Blue Dawn Flower' - Beautiful perennial
Morning Glory growing to 20' or more. Easily grown vine that
avoids the big problem of most Morning Glories, which is their
habit of reseeding and being a pest - this vine makes no
seed. It should be pointed out though that Blue Dawn is an
aggressive grower, which can be an advantage in many
situations, but it should not be located where it's aggressive
growth might be difficult to manage. Best in full sun, but will
tolerate light shade. Zone 9-10

Xanthosoma 'Lime Zinger' - Grows 3'-5' tall and wide.
Stands out in any situation with it's large tropical lime green
leaves. Grows well as a large container plant and in the
garden. Best in bright shade or dappled sun. Requires
regular watering and fertilization for best results. Withhold
water in winter to prevent rotting and protect from freezing.
Zones 9-10.

Giant Russian Pomegranate: Small deciduous, fruit tree
growing to 15' tall, and wide. Pomegranates have glossy
foliage and showy flowers in summer, followed by edible,
apple sized fruit in late summer/fall. Giant Russian, is
reported to tolerate somewhat colder conditions than most
other varieties. Zones 8 -10.

Fuyu Persimmon. Small deciduous tree growing 15" to 20'
tall and wide. Fruit orange, sweet and mild, and can be eaten
firm-ripe or soft. Ripens Oct-Nov. Tree vigorous, spreading,
productive. One of the most popular non astringent cultivars.
Zones 7-9. May be injured below 10 degrees f.

Figs
Call or email us to be sure what you are looking for is
available.
Figs do best in full sun and will not fruit well in shade. In
sandy soils, we have found that adding generous amounts of
organic material at planting, and keeping the root zone well
mulched, greatly increases the chance of success. Of
course the tree must receive adequate moisture, especially
the first year or two. Your local extension agent can provide
additional recommendations.
Fig - Celeste (aka as the Sugar Fig) - Small to medium fig
with light brown to violet skin and strawberry pulp. Very cold
hardy. One of the finest Southern figs. Zone 8-10
Fig - Scott’s Black. Large black fruit with a bright red pulp.
Ripens late in the season. Zones 8-10.
Fig - Hardy Chicago - Small to medium fruit with light brown to
violet skin and strawberry pink pulp. Pyriform with long
slender neck. Excellent flavor and very hardy. Ours is grown
from cuttings of an old tree in Winston Salem, NC.
Fig, Kadota - Greenish-white, medium sized fruit. Vigorous.
Delicious fresh or dried. Kadota is a rich, sweet, all purpose
fig well suited for the Southeastern climate. Grow in full sun.
LSU Purple - A small to medium purple fig introduced by
Louisiana State University in 1991. Well adapted to the Deep
South.

Bananas
We offer three banana varieties that have been chosen for
their ornamental value, relative cold hardiness, and edibility.
These varieties come through most winters along the coastal
South, with the above-ground stem (pseudo stem) intact,
which is necessary if fruit is to be produced.
Ice Cream (Blue Java) - Cold tolerant banana plant
reaching 15 feet. Leaves are a silver-green, and the fruit is
blue-green before ripening. Fruit is medium sized with white
flesh; many rate this as the best tasting banana around.
Hardy to USDA Zone 8b.
Kandarian - Very large, edible banana growing to 20’ or
more. Kandarian has survived brief dips in temperture of 20
degrees F. Zone 8b-9.
Dwarf Namwah - Smaller in size, this banana has non-the-
less produced large sized bunches of sweet fruit in Coastal
GA. 8’-10’ tall. USDA Zones 8b-10. (Picture courtesy Richard

Cassia bicapsularis: Erect, deciduous shrub or small tree,
producing clusters of bright yellow flowers in the fall. Grows
6 to 12’ tall. Plant in full sun or light shade. May be
damaged by cold, but ordinarily recovers quickly in spring to
bloom again the following fall. Zones 8b-11
